Sign Up For Rising Hope’s Virtual 5K, First $5,000 Matched by Generous Donors

Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church is holding its first Virtual 5K on Saturday, June 27, to raise much needed funds to help those in greatest need during the current pandemic.

“The need for Rising Hope’s services continues to grow, and food and financial support is needed now more than ever,” said Pastor Keary Kincannon. “This is a perfect outdoor socially distant event to get your exercise and be part of the larger Rising Hope community.”

More than 300 families depend on Rising Hopes food pantry each week- that’s more than 200,000 meals provided each year. For a $25 registration fee, participants get access to weekly training and mission tips through a private Facebook group and great swag. There’s also an opportunity for participants to donate additional funds through the same site. The first $5,000 raised will be matched by a generous donor.

“We are very grateful to this local family for providing us these matching funds,” Kincannon added. “Pick your favorite trail or jump on your treadmill and join the rest of the Rising Hope community in running to improve access for the citizens facing hardships along the Route 1 Corridor.”

Participants are also encouraged to set up their own fundraising pages and join with their friends in this opportunity to stay socially connected while physically distant.
