Looking Ahead

I hope to see many persons at Bishop Lewis’ Chat and Chew on Saturday, February 24. The Alexandria District is joining together with Arlington, Rappahannock River (formerly Fredericksburg), and Richmond Districts for this morning event with lunch, to be held at Ebenezer UMC in Stafford. Registration is required for lunch and to arrange enough rooms for small groups. Bishop Lewis will be preaching about the work of the Commission on the Way Forward and the unity of the Church. We will share Holy Communion together. Then we will go into small groups where everyone will be invited to answer questions that come from the Commission on the Way Forward as it seeks to listen to the grass roots of the Church. We will end with lunch together.
April 4, 2018, is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The National Council of Churches is planning a rally on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on that day. For more information, please check the website rally2endracism.org. With such a close proximity to this event, it is a great opportunity for United Methodists in the Alexandria District to bear witness publicly to our commitment to work against racism.
